UAV

The 4-axis drone design is popular for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It includes a flight controller and four electronic speed controllers (ESCs) –one for each electric motor. The flight controller is equipped with a radio for receiving the flight instructions from the pilot and inertial measurement unit (IMU). The IMU provides information necessary for vehicle automatic stability through the built-in acceleration sensor and the gyro, and sometimes the magnetometer and GPS receiver. This reference design combines four independent ESCs into one and can drive four brushless DC motors through the control by a Kinetis KV4x or Kinetis KV5x MCU. Every inverter of this solution is equipped with a GD3000 pre-driver for further functional enhancement. The GD3000 pre-driver can only drive MOSFET with N channel, thus achieving better efficiency.
