With the steady growth of global consumption on the IoT, NXP has launched a smart socket reference design incorporating the Kinetis MKM14Z64 MCU based on the low-power consumption and high-performance 32-bit ARM®Cortex™-M0+ core.

As a very cost-effective solution, this reference design comes with a single-phase meter and the wireless control feature. It comprises two parts: the meter part for measuring the single-phase electronic power and the Wi-Fi part for wireless control. The user can check the socket statuses in his Android cell phone app, such as the current active power, reactive power, grid frequency, and historical running time; he can set it to On/Off status or he can time the switch status.
